THE SHORT ANSWER

In the 7 gas days to 22 Sep 2026, EU LNG terminals sent an average of 3,801 GWh/d of regasified LNG into the grid. That is 5.8% less than the same days of 2025 (4,036 GWh/d), and 27.9% more than the 2021 to 2025 average for those days (2,973 GWh/d). The terminals used 47.7% of the send-out capacity they declared (dtrs), which was 7,966 GWh/d on the newest day. GIE marks 22 Sep 2026 as an estimate, so it may still be revised.

A figure needs five of its seven gas days reported and passing our plausibility screen; fewer shows as withheld. A small 6/7d beside a figure marks an average over fewer than seven days. GIE marks 22 Sep 2026 as an estimate for at least the EU total, so the newest day may be revised.

Coverage. This week GIE ALSI+ has figures for 30 terminals in 12 EU countries. A terminal that does not report to ALSI+ is not counted at all. The UK's Dragon, Isle of Grain and South Hook terminals are listed but reported nothing this week, so the UK is in no figure here. Listed but silent this week: Hamina (Finland), Le Havre (FSRU Cape Ann) (France), Stade 1 (FSRU Energos Force) (Germany) and Ostsee / Lubmin (FSRU Neptune) (Germany). Voltstack's stored history, which draws the chart and the five-year average, holds the EU total and stores Spain, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium by country; it has no terminal series and nothing for Germany, Portugal, Poland, Croatia, Greece, Lithuania and Finland, so every country and terminal comparison here is read from GIE ALSI+ directly.

03 · Questions

Questions people ask about European LNG

How much LNG is Europe sending out this week?

In the 7 gas days to 22 Sep 2026, EU LNG terminals sent an average of 3,801 GWh/d of regasified LNG into the grid. That is 5.8% less than the same days of 2025 (4,036 GWh/d), and 27.9% more than the 2021 to 2025 average for those days (2,973 GWh/d). The terminals used 47.7% of the send-out capacity they declared (dtrs), which was 7,966 GWh/d on the newest day. GIE marks 22 Sep 2026 as an estimate, so it may still be revised.

How much LNG does Europe import?

GIE ALSI+ does not report cargoes as they unload. Its closest daily measure of imports is send-out, the regasified LNG that terminals feed into the grid. From 1 January to 22 Sep 2026, EU terminals sent out 1,012 TWh, 3.2% less than the 1,045 TWh over the same days of 2025. In the 7 gas days to 22 Sep 2026 they averaged 3,801 GWh/d. Their tanks held 30.6 TWh of LNG on 22 Sep 2026, 49.3% of declared tank capacity (dtmi). Send-out runs a few days behind unloading, because a cargo goes into the tanks first.

Will LNG imports to Europe increase?

We don't forecast imports. Here is what the data shows so far. This week's send-out is 5.8% less than the same days of 2025. Year to date it is 3.2% less than 2025. Terminals used 47.7% of their declared send-out capacity, leaving about 4,165 GWh/d unused, so there is physical room for more. Whether cargoes arrive to fill that room depends on the global LNG market, which this page does not cover.

How much LNG does Europe need to refill storage?

EU gas storage held 795 TWh on gas day 22 Sep 2026, 70.2% of its 1,132 TWh capacity (GIE AGSI+). Reaching 90% full needs another 224 TWh. At this week's EU LNG send-out of 3,801 GWh/d, that equals about 59 days of everything Europe's terminals regasify. Not all send-out goes into storage: some of it is burned the same day, and pipeline imports and domestic production fill storage too. Read the figure as a scale, not a timetable.

Which European country sends out the most LNG?

France sent out the most in the 7 gas days to 22 Sep 2026, 957 GWh/d on average, followed by the Netherlands (745 GWh/d) and Italy (604 GWh/d). Together they made up 61% of EU send-out. The table on this page breaks each country down by terminal.

Where does Europe's LNG come from?

This page doesn't say, on purpose. GIE ALSI+ reports what each terminal sends into the grid and holds in its tanks, not where the cargoes were loaded. Tying send-out to a supplier country needs ship-tracking data, which we don't have, so we don't estimate it.

Where does this data come from, and how current is it?

From GIE ALSI+, the transparency platform run by Gas Infrastructure Europe, which LNG terminal operators report to every gas day. It runs about two days behind, so the newest gas day here is 22 Sep 2026. Every EU, country and terminal figure passes a plausibility screen before it is used, and a refused figure shows as withheld, never as a substitute number. The UK's terminals are listed in ALSI+ but reported nothing this week, so they are not in these figures. The chart, the five-year average and the year-to-date totals come from Voltstack's stored daily history of the same source.

05 · Method and limits

How these figures are made, and what they leave out

  • Send-out is the regasified LNG a terminal feeds into the grid in a gas day, in GWh. It is not the same as a cargo unloading: LNG sits in the tanks first.
  • dtrs is the send-out capacity a terminal declares for the day and dtmi its declared tank capacity, both as reported to GIE ALSI+.
  • Every EU, country and terminal record is screened on its own. It is refused if send-out is negative or more than 25% above dtrs, or tank inventory is negative or more than 10% above dtmi. A refused record counts as unreported. Stored history points above 125% of the current EU dtrs are dropped the same way.
  • GIE ALSI+ publishes about two days behind, and a gas day marked as an estimate can change when the operator confirms it.
  • The page names no supplier country for any cargo; that needs ship tracking we don't have. It carries no prices of any kind.
  • For how full Europe's underground storage is, see the EU gas storage tracker.
